Had time to get a bit crafty this morning – yay! – I have been missing it this week…
I needed to make a birthday card for my friend’s little girl today so I came up with a sketch that I thought would suit an idea that I had brewing. That is, to use this big old cupcake cling stamp by Hero Arts.
So here’s my initial sketch for Sketch-On-Saturday SOS35…
I ended up sticking quite closely with the idea originially in my head (doesn’t always happen like that!) and I’m liking how it all worked out:
I stamped the ‘Large Cupcake‘ in Memento ‘Tuxedo Black’ and watercoloured in girly shades of pink, red and aqua. I stamped the heart at the top again and coloured it separately to mount it up on extra foam pads ‘slotted’ into the icing of the cake, for even more dimension.
The whole thing is fussy cut to mount on my card and I added Stickles and some sequins (fixed with Glossy Accents).
Don’t all kids love having things with their names on? I know I did when I was little
Except Ruth was not a common name, every time I remember looking for pencils or bookmarks with my name on. I’m sure even today there are kids who find it frustrating as the fashions change for popular kids names.
Anyhoo.. I have to go now – we have to go to the DIY shop. Ugh. I would rather be crafting but there are pipes that need unblocking. And it’s started to snow again. Too chilly for words
Happy days, Rx
