Birthday butterfly card

Hi all
Just dropping by to share this card I make this week for a friend’s birthday… which was yesterday, so now I am safe in sharing and no surprises will be spoilt ;)

I don’t mind telling you, I LOVE this card. I did make another one first but, it just wasn’t grabbing me, and I thought ‘no, come on, there’s still time to do better than that’. I will probably still send the other card sometime, so it’s in my stash for now, but it just wasn’t right for my friend (who is celebrating a special birthday, so I wanted it to be a killer card!)

I headed to Paper Playful to check out what challenges might inspire me to do better and found a pretty colour challenge at Stampin’ Royalty #194 …. challenge-194

and the new challenge at Flutterby Wednesday #253 - open, but include a butterfly or fairy.
Here’s my second-time-lucky then…. ;)

butterfly birthday card stamping colours challenge inspirationI always love creating cards with butterflies, and after the first not-so-happy-with card, I was pleased to see the challenge at Flutterby Wednedsy –  I always feel butterfly ideas come more easily!
I layered up some yellowy patterns found in my scraps bin (one border punched: Fiskars ‘Apron Lace’ I think?) and the diecut journalling tag (I love the stitchy accent on this!) but tore off the edge so it fits on my card better.

I popped it up on foam pads, fluttering across my card, and added a message in alpha stickers… then a gold ribbon and some gems and enamel dots (MME) to finish.
I hope my pal loves it too… Happy birthday for yesterday Ali! ;)

Meanwhile, back at the ranch… I’m hoping to find some time to get in the crafty den and get inky again today… Then the new series of Downton Abbey starts later so I am excited about that!
See you soon, hope you find some fun crafty time today too, Rx

How very delightfully happy this card makes me. Beautiful colors and a light whimsical design. Well done!
