Maths of cardmaking… plus a Butterfly Collage

Hi there
I have been busy doing lots of creating this past few days – not only finishing off the last of my makes for the magazine commission I mentioned the other day, but also a few birthday cards due.
This is when it occurred to me about how many cards that I make but never blog about. (This is where the maths part of my title comes in!)

I think it’s certainly fair to describe the proportion of cards made to cards blogged as quite the top-heavy fraction. For a time, this weighed heavy with me, and I was feeling the pressure to balance my maths out and turn the fraction the other way up. But I figure now – that’s life.
I used to blog in the morning before work where possible (partly becasue I could take more advantage of the light to take pics before heading off for the day) but with my light tent, that’s not so important now. And significantly, I’m trying to make more packed lunches in the mornings, so that takes priority over blogging.

Still… plenty of cards are getting made – I’d rather spend a spare half hour in the evening doing some making, than sitting at the computer. (I am trying harder too to reduce my screen time in the evenings, as a long day in the office is quite enough computer time, I reckon. But that’s another story.)

Anyway, it’s all just observation really – sorry to say that you probably don’t get to see around half the cards I make, but I try to share ones I specifically make for challenges. Maybe I’ll just try some quick, photo-only posts in between times? Hmm…
What do you think crafty peeps, I’d love to hear your tips on getting the balance between crafty time and computer time – my non-work hours are squeezed enough so anything to make the most of one’s evenings, eh!!

Anyway, enough of this blether… here IS a card I snuck in a bit ago…

birthday card inspiration butterfly ephemera challengePlenty of fun collaging and layering of ephemera and die cut bits.
I was inspired by the Sept ‘Things with Wings‘ challenge over at SirStampalot so dug around in my diecut shapes tub for this butterfly and added glitter to dress it up a bit more. See?

birthday card inspiration butterfly ephemera challengeNo stamping, but I will add a stamped monogram to the teeny heart tag (PTI – Tiny Tags die) I think, when it comes to sending this to a lucky recipient.
A bit of doodling… twine… gems to finish off. All good.

I made another card too (following on from the new-found love for the bunny die by Lil’ Inkers – see previous post here), and it is a corker of a card, if I say so myself. I cut out the large bunny to make a sparkly sequin shaker card – PERFECT for a special 10-year-old it’s going to go to.
But my camera battery is dead, and I need to post it today so that’s that. Another one unshared. Ah well…. C’est la vie!

Wow, well done for making it to the end of this post anyway. That’s quite enough chatter now.
TTFN all, hope you manage to fit in some crafty time this weekend, Rx
